Fox Announces Classic Horror DVDs for September

More from the DVD Drive-In folks. In addition to the MGM releases detailed here, Fox will be releasing DVDs of a number of films from its own vaults on September 11, 2007. Included is a double feature of the Amicus Tales from the Crypt (1972) and Vault of Horror (1973), both making their DVD premieres.

The immensely cult-tastic HBO series "Tales from the Crypt," years and years after running its course (no new episodes have been produced since 1996), is finally, to the delight of many fans, arriving on a 2-disc DVD set starting with Season One (six episodes) on July 12th, and will run for just about $26.98.

A new documentary, Tales from the Crypt: From Comic Books to Television, will be unleashed on DVD October 29th and immediately skyrocket to the top of every EC Comics fans' wish lists. The documentary will explore everything the title suggests, plus interviews from many of the artists and writers of the old comic book series and well-known filmmakers and authors, such as John Carpenter, George Romero, and R.L.

Being one of those immature people who still read Mad Magazine, this interview was a pleasure for me. However, from a horror buff point of view, this man is important to our genre because he helped create perhaps the most successful horror comic book in history, Tales From the Crypt. I caught up with him via Internet, and he gave the readers of classic horror a very “MAD” chat about all things from the Crypt.
